Blogger – Melanie Studer

Can you tell us something about yourself?
My name is Melanie Studer and I am 22 years old. I come from a country where 3 minutes delayed trains are announced and where the people are the world most chocoholics. As you might have guessed, I am Swiss. Or perhaps the banana type of Swiss (yellow on the outside and white on the inside) as my 50{95388bbb2e9df0f2b3d26445fc24fe82185b1b567dbb094bc3a45074083d0a2b} Chinese-Malaysian genes seem to have overtaken in my appearance. I came to the Netherlands to follow a Master in Industrial Ecology and Science Communication at Leiden University and TU Delft. However my double degree in only my braintainment. My actual entertainments are delicious food, cooking, TEDtalks, children camps, hiking and going out in nature.

What’s your job at TEDxDelft?
I will be blogging about Delft and side events in Delft.

What’s your favorite TED(x)talk?
The TEDtalk, which probably impressed me the most was JR’s TED Prize wish – use art to turn the world inside out. Not only his art is absolutely stunning but also what he made of it. It will make the fiercer believer that art is not useful change his mind. I also loved Sir Ken Robinson’s TED talk on schools that kill creativity. He put words on exactly all the un-verbalized complaints I had on education and most importantly he pleas for the reintegration of creativity in the education system.

What’s your idea worth spreading?
If we want to change the world quickly and durably, we have to spread positive ideas and reconnect with a sense of purpose. For instance, hearing about JR’s project or any TED talks inspires me much more to change my way of Living than hearing ten-thousand times in different words that we are “compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”.

Which keywords define you as a person?
Foodie, TEDaddicted, people person, enthusiastic, nature, games
